Governance
Transparency and accountability are core to our mission. Here's how CFA is governed.
Last updated: January 2, 2026
CFA is currently founder-led during the pre-pilot phase. As we secure fiscal sponsorship and grow, we are building toward a more distributed governance structure.
Current Structure
Founder-led with advisory input from NGO partners and community stakeholders. All major decisions are documented and evidence-driven.
How Decisions Are Made
Product, policy, and partnership decisions follow a documented process: research, stakeholder input, pilot testing where feasible, and transparent communication of outcomes.
We maintain rigorous financial transparency, especially important during the pilot funding phase.
Fund Tracking
All pilot funds are tracked with receipts, categorized logs, and documented outcomes. We use separate accounts for pilot funds.
Reporting Cadence
Funders receive monthly pilot reports with budget status, spending breakdown, and outcome metrics. Quarterly summaries are shared publicly.
We maintain clear policies to prevent conflicts of interest.
Disclosure Rule
Team members must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence CFA decisions. This includes relationships with partner organizations, vendors, or competitors.
Approval Process
Disclosed conflicts are reviewed by the founder (or advisory board, when established). Conflicted parties are recused from relevant decisions.
Community safety is non-negotiable. We implement safeguarding measures across all operations.
Safety Rules for Reporting & Verification
We strip location metadata from photos, discourage reports that could identify individuals, and never require users to put themselves at risk. Verifiers are encouraged to verify from safe, public areas.
Anti-Harassment Stance
Harassment, threats, or intimidation of any community member, partner, or team member is grounds for immediate removal from the platform. Reports of harassment are handled within 48 hours.
Our approach to data respects both transparency and privacy.
What's Public (Aggregated)
Aggregated trends, category breakdowns, and verification rates. We publish insights, not personal identifiers.
What's Restricted
Precise locations, reporter identities, and detailed report contents are access-controlled for verified response partners only.
Retention & Deletion
Reports are retained while active and archived after resolution. Users can request deletion; data in partner exports may remain for audit purposes. See our Privacy Policy for details.
We take governance concerns seriously and provide clear channels for reporting.
All governance concerns are acknowledged within 2 business days and investigated within 14 days. Anonymous reports are accepted.
You can report: financial concerns, safeguarding issues, conflict of interest, policy violations, or general governance questions.
